about me

Hi! I'm Luke.

I am someone who highly values exploration and play, in work and in life, and these values largely dictate how I spend my time as a creative. As such, I have many creative outlets including watercolor, charcoal, sculpture, and embroidery—with many more mediums stashed in my art cabinet waiting for their turn. I see creation as a raw glimpse into someone's mind, and I flock to creatives to explore the treasure troves of how they see the world. I hold an immense respect to those that create, no matter the medium or skill, and so I find the tech industry, organizations like Urban Sketchers, and local art galleries very rewarding.

Beyond hobbies, I also have enjoyed my time exploring careers. I was offered a software engineering internship while in highschool, later leading into a career in web development. At the same time, I freelanced as a 3D modeler for videogames and interior design. Later, I took on a sommelier apprenticeship where I fell in love with hospitality and taste. When the restaurant I worked at closed, I made the committment to Product Design where I've found a little of everything I love.

For many designers, this profession is means of being paid to create. Others enjoy solving complex problems. My motivations truly revolve around the people who use the products I design. As a sommelier-in-training, I got to see first-hand how serving a personalized experience to someone can foster intimate memories and I felt honored to be a part of that. My biggest wins as a designer are not revenue-based; my biggest wins are when patients tell my team that they felt safe in our care.
